Soluble Fms-like tyrosine kinase-1 (sFlt-1)
Soluble forms-like tyrosine kinase-1 is a tyrosine kinase protein with antiangiogenic properties. A non-membrane-associated splice variant of VEGF receptor 1, sFlt-1 binds the angiogenic factors VEGF and PlGF, reducing blood vessel growth by reducing free VEGF and PlGF concentrations. sFlt-1/PLGF ratio is valuable for assessing the severity of preeclampsia and diagnosing early-onset preeclampsia and can be used to predict neonatal birth weight.
